New to this?

Three simple ideas, in a minute each.

If you have never sold a voucher or a package, here is what each one is, and what it does for a small business like yours.

Gift vouchers

Money, or a treat, that somebody buys for somebody else.

They pay you today. The person it is for books when they like and spends it like cash, often on their first visit to you.

For example

A £50 voucher for a birthday, or a skin fade for Christmas

Good for birthdays, Christmas, thank-yous

Packages

A block of visits, paid for up front.

Your customer saves a little and commits to coming back. You are paid now, and each visit comes off the package as they book.

For example

Five skin fades for £99, used within six months

Good for regulars, courses, routines

Discount codes

A word that takes money off.

Hand it out to fill a quiet week, welcome somebody new or thank a regular. You decide who can use it, how often and until when.

For example

WELCOME10: 10% off, once per customer

Good for quiet weeks, loyalty, a welcome

A voucher and a package are paid for in advance; a code lowers the price. They work together, too: an amount voucher pays what is left after a code, and a code can come off a package.

Why it matters

Without a reason to come back, customers drift.

Most small businesses are paid one visit at a time, then hope the customer remembers to book the next. These three change both.

Without them

  • Paid only on the day

Every pound arrives when the work is done, so a slow month is felt the moment it starts.

  • Nothing brings them back

Between visits there is no reason to choose you over the place down the road. Most just forget to book.

  • Offers nobody can track

Ten percent off, posted on a Monday and forgotten by Thursday. Who used it, and what it cost you, is anyone's guess.

With them

  • Money before the work

Vouchers and packages are paid the day they are bought, into your own Stripe account. December's gifts pay for January.

  • A reason to come back

Visits left on a package, or money on a voucher, is a booking waiting to happen, and their own page shows what is left.

  • New customers, sent by regulars

A gift voucher is a recommendation with money attached, often for somebody who has never been in.

  • Quiet days, filled on purpose

A code with dates and a limit fills a slow week without cutting your prices for everyone.

Gift vouchers

A present they buy from you, a customer you gain.

Put an amount or a favourite service on sale and anyone can buy it on your booking page for somebody else. It arrives by email, ready to print or to book with.

  • Set amounts, a named service, or any amount between two you choose.
  • Sent to whoever bought it, or straight to the person it is for, on the day they pick.
  • Spent across bookings until it runs out. A cancellation puts the money back on.
  • Issued at the desk too: sold for cash, brought over from before FullDiary with its old code, or on the house.
  • Lasts 6, 12 or 24 months, or never runs out.

Packages

Paid up front, booked again and again.

Sell a block of visits for one price. Each time they book, a visit comes off, with nothing to pay at the time and nothing for you to count.

  • A name, how many visits, the price, the service it covers and how long it lasts: 30 days to a year, or never.
  • Bought online by card, or sold at the desk from their profile, on the website or the FullDiary app.
  • Every booking takes one visit at no charge, whether they book online or you put it in the diary.
  • Cancel and the visit goes back on. A no-show keeps it used.
  • Their own page shows what is left and the use-by date.

Discount codes

Money off, on your terms.

Write a code and say what it takes off and who it is for. Customers type it when they book and see the new price before they pay, and a code for your regulars can apply itself.

  • A percentage or an amount off a booking, or off a package.
  • Every service, or only the ones you pick.
  • For anyone with the code, customers who have booked before, Regulars, VIPs, or people with a standing appointment.
  • Limits if you want them: total uses, once each, a minimum spend, start and end dates.
  • Every use counted, with what it gave away.

Most shops use all three: vouchers at Christmas, packages for the regulars, a code for the quiet weeks.

How to start

Set up in minutes, all in one place.

  1. 01

    Open Sell more

Under Your shop, Sell more holds all three. Each is a short page of its own, and none of them is on until you say so.

  2. 02

    Say what is on offer

An amount or a service to give, a block of visits at a price, or a code and who it is for. A minute each.

  3. 03

Your booking page does the rest

Buy a gift voucher and buy a package appear on it, and the code box shows once a code is live. Every sale and every use is tracked.

Your shop, Sell more: three cards saying 3 packages on sale, 3 live vouchers and 2 live codes
All three live under Sell more, in Your shop.

Selling online needs Stripe, which takes a few minutes under Booking rules, and the money goes to your own account. Until then you can sell vouchers and packages at the desk.

What you get

The controls you would want.

What it costs. Gift vouchers, packages and discount codes are part of Pro, at £9.99 a month a person and never more than £39.99. There is no commission on anything you sell; Stripe's usual card fee is between you and Stripe. The free plan does not have them. See the plans.

Sold online or at the desk

Customers buy with a card on your booking page. At the counter you can sell a package from their profile, or issue a voucher for cash, from before FullDiary, or on the house.

Nothing to work out

A visit comes off a package as they book, a voucher's balance goes down as it is spent, and a cancellation puts it all back. A no-show keeps it used.

Your rules

Codes for anyone, or only Regulars and VIPs, with limits and dates. Vouchers for set amounts, a service, or any amount between two you choose.

Straight in the books

Bookings say what a voucher or a package paid, invoices carry a voucher or a discount as its own line, and the activity log says who used what.

FAQs

Questions? Answered straight

The things people ask about gift vouchers, packages and discount codes before they sign up.

Something else on your mind? Ask a human.

What is the difference between a gift voucher and a discount code?

A gift voucher is money somebody has already paid you, spent on bookings like cash until it runs out. A discount code takes money off the price. One is a payment and the other a discount, and an amount voucher pays whatever is left after a code.

Do I need Stripe?

To sell vouchers and packages on your booking page, yes: customers pay by card through your own Stripe account, and the money is yours. Without it you can still sell both at the desk and take the money however you like. Discount codes need nothing.

What happens if they cancel?

A cancelled booking puts the money back on the voucher, or the session back on the package. A no-show keeps it used, so a missed visit is still paid for.

Can a discount code come off a package or a voucher?

Off a package, yes, if you say so: they pay the discounted price by card. Off a gift voucher, no.

Can I bring over vouchers I sold before FullDiary?

Yes. Issue it at the desk as bought before FullDiary, with the code printed on the old voucher and whatever is left on it, so the customer types the code they already have.

Do they expire?

Only if you want them to. Vouchers last 6, 12 or 24 months, or never run out; a package lasts from 30 days to a year, or never. Their own page shows the use-by date.

Can my staff use them?

Yes. Staff can take a gift voucher or give a discount on a booking in the diary, and a package's sessions are used by themselves, whoever makes the booking.

Are they on the free plan?

No, all three are part of Pro. A voucher sold while you are on Pro stays good if you ever leave it, so nobody loses what they paid for.
