Do I need to be VAT registered to invoice?
No. Until your taxable turnover passes the VAT registration threshold you invoice without VAT: leave every line at 0%, leave the VAT number blank, and no VAT appears on the document. If you register later, switch the rate on and add your number in Business details once.
Does my invoice need my UTR or National Insurance number?
No. HMRC does not require either on an invoice, and it is better not to print them. Your name or trading name, your address and a contact detail are what the customer needs.
Can I invoice as a person rather than a company?
Yes. Put your own name (or your trading name) as the business, add your address, and the invoice is valid. Bank details go on the invoice from Settings so the customer knows where to send the money.

Does the AI do the maths?
No, and that is deliberate. The AI reads what you typed; plain deterministic code computes every total, discount and VAT figure in exact pence. AI is good at language and bad at arithmetic, so it only does the first one.
